Bloomington, MN — I chose this for a landscape planting in a front yard island that has two upright ornamental crabapples that hold small golden fruit (till the squirrels come). I combined it with 4 other fall plantings in the island - two other reds and two golds with different bloom and rebloom times, and varying height and type. I LOVE Scarlet Apache. For a first year, in partial shade, on a slope, in Minnesota - it was a quite stunningr. As were the other reds and the golds, whose names I can't recall at the moment. Vigorous bloomer, most of nine new plantings had 7 - 9 scapes and continuous bloom for six weeks - year 1. The partial shade allowed the blooms to hold rich color, Well-watered, amended soil, well fed at planting. This is a winner! and thank you, Oakes, for the high quality plants!
