HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

EYE-YI-YI is a real show stopper! The colors are rich and vibrant. Extremely hardy in the Midwest climate. This is one of my plants that I receive the most requests for when I divide my daylilies.

Fantastic daylily — lush hardy foliage, stellar flowers on tall, sturdy scapes and a relatively high bud count. For a few years now, Eye-yi-yi has been fantastic for me in a patch of garden where my tall dahlias grow. The beautiful blooms on great scapes finish their eye-popping run right when my dahlias start to hit their stride — and the heavy foliage of rising dahlia plants hasn’t overwhelmed this daylily. It’s a beautiful, showy blast of color and form that holds serve until the surrounding dahlias take center court.

If I could only have one lily, this would be the one. Fantastic bloom and rebloom – bloomed till frost here just outside of Washington D.C. This fantastic bloom with just over half a day of sun and not the best soil. And the color . . . just pulls the eye. Cen Wells, Hughesville, Md

As this endless winter drags on, I am SO looking forward to seeing this beauty again in my garden! Last year was my first summer of daylilies in my new daylily garden, and of all the species I bought, Eye-Yi-Yi was the most stunning. The brilliant colors draw your eye over and over again, plus it was long-blooming. I just could not stop looking at this gorgeous plant. Oh, please, spring, come quickly!

This daylily is stunning. It’s one of the highlights of my garden; I have it planted next to some red flowers and they really complement each other perfectly.

I purchased this daylily because it has my two favorite colors – yellow and red. It is such a beauty and one you notice from quite a distance. It is only my first year and it had many blooms. I am ordering more this fall.

VERY bright and eye-catching from a distance. Big flowers, not at all like a “ditch lily.” I planted it last fall and have 12 scapes this summer. The plant is very vigorous and bushy w/ nice foliage and a nice overall shape. Mine is a bright, clear orange, not as “melon” as in this photo. It makes a great contrast planted next to Anzac (red) and my hostas and coneflowers with lavender blooms. I will definitely be dividing this in the fall to spread around the garden.

I can’t believe this plant! NOTHING stops it from blooming. When I got home from your festival it was late and I was tired so I put it in a bucket of water and went in. Rain and too much overtime prevented me from getting it into the ground for a week. Just to show me how tough it was – it started blooming in the bucket and kept right on blooming through the whole planting thing right up til now. WOW!

I just planted this in April, and it already bloomed in the first week of June. The flower is huge (I could swear it is at least 6″) and the color is brilliant orange — even brighter than the photo shows. It is in full Texas sun and is blooming profusely.
