HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

I’ve had Mini Pearl for many years and have divided it several times so it appears all over my several gardens. Wherever it is, it is a beacon of beauty. It blooms profusely and shines like a light. Simply beautiful.

Like her namesake, she is a little sassy force of nature. So impressed with the number of blooms having just been planted last fall in my Zone 6a garden in less than perfect conditions. Not real robust yet, but she just keeps pumping out flowers despite the heat and humidity.. My color is true to the picture shown and is planted in front of a Shishedo, combining beautifully This spirited, diminutive lady, I think is destined to become one of my favorites. Ya can’t keep this good gal down!

Love this charmer! Perfect balance of pretty foliage and cheerful powerhouse number of blooms! I have had 7 weeks of bloom so far this year, and scapes still coming up. Just a perfect garden plant, as well as garden color! I was reluctant to order a “plain” and “small bloom” daylily, and this certainly has changed my mind. Now I am searching for others of similar beauty and bounty!

I have 2 large clumps of MINI PEARL growing in pots here in zone 9a, hot, humid Southeast Coastal Texas. This is a DORMANT daylily that thrives for me. I can’t say enough about this cheery, glowing little lily with its magnificent foliage that STAYS a healthy blue green all summer long. What’s not to love about this daylily? She’s inexpensive, glowing, and blooms and blooms and blooms!

Very hardy here and have divided several times. Has a true shape and color – little darker here and the eye glows. Often it seems pearl flecked. Very hardy and dependable. Mine is planted where they get some afternoon shade. During this year’s drought, it still bloomed 27 days.

This daylily is a power house blooming machine!!! It gets huge quickly and has sooooo many flowers on it; it’s simply amazing!! And the flowers are the perfect height for the foliage, , they sit perfectly above it just enough; compared to some that are too high above it or too low down in it! The color for me is peach, the form perfect and pretty too! However having said all that, for me the small flowers are REALLY hard to deadhead as they simply do not want to come off like the bigger daylily flowers that just seem to pop off; which makes it hard for me and my bad back and it’s hard to get them off without knocking off some of the buds that are there! Also the foliage always gets brown and yucky here all summer and I have to rip out a bunch of it which is very time consuming and which for me ruins the perfect affect of this pretty flower.

I absolutely LOVE this little darling. New this spring, I have it planted around the base of a fountain, 4 to six scapes per plant, bloomed 3 wks after planted…for a month. I only gave it a 9 because the scapes were only 3″-4″ – fine with me, but I think it was on southern time – taller would be fine, too.

Light apricot with no pink and a very golden throat here in coastal So Cal. I found the comment from Prescott AZ -immediately below- fascinating as she had the same color until she & her plants moved to AZ.

I must grow 100 cultivars and Mini Pearl is my favorite. Ok, no re-bloom, but I especially love the shape…it is different from every other DL I have grown. We’ve just moved to Prescott AZ zone 7 from So Cal zone 10 and I brought all my DLs. In So Cal it was a light apricot. Must be shade tolerant because it grew, bloomed, and multiplied well under a Macadamia Nut tree.

This flower just “glows” if it’s in a bit of shade, or in the late afternoon. The yellow in the center is almost fluoresecent and the outer part of the flower is nearly white. It really catches the eye, it’s not just another peach-toned daylily. The plant itself is quite hardy, lots of blooms, nice foliage. Its second year for me and the clump is ready to divide. I generally prefer the large daylilies, but this small one is able to hold its own in the front of the border.

This daylily is extremely cheerful. It is small and a good choice for a boarder.
