Raspberry Wine Daylily Features:

‘Raspberry Wine’ daylily is aptly named as its name describes the color quite well. Strong scapes are around 20″ tall in our East Tennessee garden and showcase large, 5″ blooms in a deep raspberry color. Deeper red veining and wavy ruffled edges make this one an especially lovely mid-sized selection.

As a late season daylily, we typically see the first blooms of Raspberry Wine around the end of June. If you are to our north, you’ll see it a few weeks after we do. If you live to our south, you’ll see it a couple of weeks before us.

Raspberry Wine is a dormant daylily. This means it is best grown in gardens that receive a sustained winter cold period— like those in zones 8 and lower.

These gorgeous blooms are knockouts when planted with bright yellow, bold gold or sizzling orange. For a more cohesive look, pair it with lavender daylilies or near white… delightful!

HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

Late bloomer for me, going strong in last week of July — deep red blooms I really love and not too high so is great for the front of the border and mid-summer color. Blooms for a while for me in summer. Bought this from Oakes a few years ago and already divided my plants so it is in 3 places in the garden instead of one. Highly recommend.

New to our flower garden, Love the size of this pretty lady. The name caught my eye, AW! “Raspberry Wine”, Good wine from CA. She sits in my front row because she is so low to the ground and she doesn’t get buried up in the greens from others lillies. Gave 1 to my sister-in-law for her Birthday. She usually looks for the big and Bold ones, but fell in love with this little one

This is a beautiful rich red and looks like dark red velvet. The size is good if you do not want a tall flower stalk. It does very well even in the midst of our hot hot summer weather even in full sun. It has been blooming several weeks and is still blooming now the first week in July.
