HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

I have had this daylily for quite a few years now and this was the best year ever! We had a very weird weather year in my central PA garden – warm early, then a killing frost, and then hot and VERY dry. Catherine Woodbury performed like a true lady! Classy and no nonsense! My blooms are just a bit lighter than pictured but I love them. So much so that her picture graces my debit card and so gets lots of exposure and good comments!

She is planted in a few places and is pretty in all of them but I especially like her big clump of blooms inside a group of hostas. Her fragrance is worth the walk to her. zone 3 Wisconsin

Cat Woodbery is a daylily I picked up at Oakes’ ’09 Daylily Festival in Knoxville (the festival is well worth checking out!) and she put on a good show in July. I anticipate another good show this summer. And I’m more than happy to wait for it, because this is a dormant daylily with great-looking foliage that grows very fast in early spring. As soon as the weather here in the mountains of Western North Carolina welcomes the daffodils and early tulips, pow!! — off went Cat Woodbery, growing fast and filling in her assigned space. One more thing: The photo provided by Oakes is great — it shows the pastel daylily amidst cone flowers and Black-eyed Susans. Excellent concept!

I bought Catherine Woodbery about seven years ago, and it bloomed every year. There were years though when it had a harder time than other years to bloom. The last two years though has been its best. Flowers are beautiful and do well here.

This was a gift to me & not from Oakes. Mine was also slow to start but it now looks like your picture although somewhat more triange in shape. Looks pretty with deep purples and deep lavenders.

Sadly I did not order this daylily from Oakes. The nursery sent one spindly scape and it took two years for it to bloom. Also it was described as pink. If I had ordered it from Oakes I could have enjoyed it much earlier. I have learned my lesson. Oakes from now on.
