HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

What a colorful charmer! Celebrity Elite will capture your eye from across the yard with its vibrant orange/red and yellow/green throat…just a perfect summer color. Plus, it’s a superb grower.

  2. What a surprise!

    Tedra Ulmer (verified owner)

I have a Boxer and a Husky…bet you can guess the rest! I ordered a larger than usual number of plants in 2020, planted them in a couple of pots, and sat back. I thought…two days later I noticed a lot of jollity and came out to discover them scattered across the patio and two tired but happy canines. I gathered them up and planted them in an old washtub, where they did well but didn’t bloom. I was sure they’d die in the January Great Freeze, but no! I replanted them at the beginning of May and this morning was delighted to discover one is Celebrity Elite! It’s gorgeous…I love the yellow throat and faint yellow highlights on the petals. I can’t wait until the other “mystery plants” bloom!

  3. BLOOMING MACHINE!

    thefantasticdontastic

First planted in morning and noon sun but the color suffered. Moved it to most shade with afternoon sun and it never fades and has grown into a big clump that blooms like crazy. I will have to divide it so I can enjoy it in a second spot, Wis zone 3

I was not disappointed with the color of this red nor it’s large size. I planted it in front of our medium gray garden shed and it really stands out. It’s a true red with a bit of orange that brightens it and attracts your eye. A strong yellow center makes the flower glow. I was impressed by the amount of stems and flowers our two-year old plant produced. It’s very robust and strong, with a long bloom period. It’s almost November here in Zone 7 and the leaves still give the plant a nice appearance. My order arrived on time and I couldn’t have packed the plants better myself. The roots were robust, clean, and sizable! Thank you for the quality of your service and healthy plants. It continues to sustain a faithful following. Happy gardening!

Gorgeous shade of red – tomato is right – and lots of buds. It rained pretty heavily here this morning, and Celebrity Elite looks better than any of the other reds.

Gorgeous plant! When it was shipped to me the fans were so big that I was able to divide it even before planting. The color is beautiful, very bright and bold. Mine look more like photo 2 than the others. I receive a lot of compliments on this one.

Celebrity Elite has been in our garden for three years now and is a most reliable plant with loads of blooms and good increase. Ours actually is a bit brighter red than in this picture. Very nice daylily that won’t disappoint.

I was pleasantly surprised with Celebrity Elite. It’s not quite as pictured. In fact it’s much prettier than pictured. I was also very impressed with the number of blooms especially for a first year plant. Without a doubt my second best first year plant behind Orange Vols.
