Paul Voth Daylily Features:

‘Paul Voth’ daylily is a stand-out. Large, 6 1/2″ blooms are dark burgundy purple with a nearly black eye. Grows strong on scapes around 3′ tall in our East Tennessee garden. Never fails to make an impression.

As a late season daylily, we typically see the first blooms of Paul Voth around the end of June. If you are to our north, you’ll see it a few weeks after we do. If you live to our south, you’ll see it a couple of weeks before us.

Paul Voth is a dormant daylily. This means it is best grown in gardens that receive a sustained winter cold period— like those in zones 8 and lower.

These gorgeous blooms are knockouts when planted with bright yellow, bold gold or sizzling orange. For a more cohesive look, pair it with lavender daylilies… delightful!

HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. I just planted this year and it has bloomed non stop. It has beautiful color even in the bright sun. Love the color!

  2. First year and gorgeous

    Tim Clark

This was my first bloom season with this daylily, and it was just gorgeous! I bought three plants at the 2019 Daylily Festival, planted them in full sun in the heat of summer, and watered them a lot! It paid off in tons or deep purple blooms this year that were on tall, sturdy scapes. Beautiful color and such great substance! I’m glad I bought three of them!

  3. Fantastick 1 Year Bloomer

    Jeffrey W. Emerson (verified owner)

Knoxville, TN: Picked up last July, this plant produced multiple flower spikes with a lot of flowers and two propagations that are currently rooting in a pot. It bloomed most of July. The Oakes photos are very color accurate. I liked the flower so much that I bought a second plant. If you live in the south I recommend planting in a place that gets afternoon shade. Our 90 degree plus days of bright sun burns darker flowers. The plant leaves are large and sturdy and it is now August, and I am seeing very active new plant fan growth. I fertilize with worm casings which is an organic fertilizer with high nutrient and trace elements content that will not burn plants no matter how much you use. I also mix the casings into the potting soil for the propagations.

  4. BEAUTIFUL!

    thefantasticdontastic

First year planting and it sent up beautiful flowers (little more burgundy than purple) that looked like velvet. I moved it away from the red lily and put it next to yellows for next years so anticipated viewing. Super glad to have it. Wiscosin zone 3
