HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

Primal Scream is a show stopper. The gorgeous Enormous bright orange blooms stand out in the landscape. It will surely turn heads to passerby. I have a bed of six planted together outside my kitchen window to enjoy for weeks when blooming.
This beauty has multiplied a lot to be divided for an abundance of more plants to add to my garden. Primal Scream gets a 10 out of 10 in my opinion

I HATE orange day lilies. I LOVE this plant. It is the only orange day lily I have. It has great form and I swear mine is bigger than it says. It grabs your attention in a big way. I confess I didn’t get mine from Oakes only because I would have never bought it from a picture because again I hate orange day lilies. I was shocked how pretty it is and the internet simply cannot convey that on a website. There are subtle color variations in the orange that are not picked up in pictures. It is a truly gorgeous plant that I would have never bought by picture alone. However, that is why I’m writing the review because I would have missed a beautiful plant.

We have had this daylily for almost 8 seasons. This is one of our favorite daylilies. The orange is electric and pops out at you. It always stops folks walking by our garden when its in bloom. The scapes are strong and heavily budded. We paid over $60 for two fans from a grower near Minneapolis who was retiring and selling off his stock. We bought his only plant. Had tried for years to buy a fan but the grower wanted to test it vitality over several Minnesota winters. The original plant has been divided at least three times and shared with special friends. Highly recommend this lily.

Great flower, but with other good orange daylilies available at oakes for a more modest price you might want to think twice if cost is an issue.Mine is only two yrs. old I will review again as they mature
