HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

  1. Beautiful flowers but....

Wedding Band has absolutely beautiful flowers. That said, it is probably the most sensitive to daylily rust that I grow. I have it on the west side and east side of my house, plants never in contact, purchased at two different times. While other daylilies around it are barely affected by rust, these are absolutely covered with it. I’m going to try to be better in 2018 about spraying with a range of fungicides but this may end up being culled, a big disappointment for such a beautiful flower.

Beautiful. Each lovely bloom looks like it has swallowed a cup of sunshine.

I love this flower, it is very elegant and beautiful. It did not bloom a lot for me the 1st year but I have hopes for next year because everything I have bought from Oakes has been splendid.

It can be an amazing show or not so much. Very beautiful on a good day or in a good year. I have had it in my garden for 9 years and it has alternated every other year from light bloom to heavy bloom, etc. The color can vary from ivory white to light yellow to light translucent pink and the edge from very heavy gold to almost none. I can’t rate it higher than a 7 because of it’s inconsistency, but at it’s best it is absolutely beautiful.

If ever there was one that the picture doesn’t do justice, this is it. The bloom is so stunningly beautiful it is unbelievable. While it lacks bold colors, it can hold its own. Mine could use a bit more sun and I think that would produce more blooms, but like it so much am afraid to move it. A great combination of colors.

Wedding Band is beautiful with it’s light yellow blooms. It’s a great bloomer. I can see why it is a Stout Medal winner.
