Dormant
Dormant varieties need a cold period in the winter so they can go dormant (the foliage dies back). People who live in colder areas (zones 8 and colder) can successfully grow dormant varieties.
What does this mean? If you live in an area that doesn’t typically get a cold period in the winter, like zones 9-10, you should avoid Dormant varieties and stick with Evergreen or Semi-Evergreen daylilies.
